On June 26th following an invitation from the Government of Afghanistan, an ILD delegation headed by CEO Manuel Salazar and supported by Operations Manager Luis Triveño, and International Affairs Manager Gabriel Daly visited Kabul for a three day meeting with His Excellency The Minister of Urban Development Mohd Yousaf Pashtun.
During their stay in Kabul, the ILD delegation held high level meetings with the Former Vice-President and current Senior Minister Hedayat Amin Arsala who showed deep interest and support for the ILD Project to diagnose the extent and practices of Afghanistans’ extralegal economy by training a team of Afghan professionals who will be in charge of designing the proposed reforms.
The ILD delegation also met with members from the Afghan National Development Strategy and visited Human Settlements in the Kabul area to start identifying the nation’s severe problems with property rights that exacerbate the kind of widespread exclusion that terrorists can exploit. After two days of intense discussions and interactions with the Government, CEO Salazar signed a Memorandum of Understanding with His Excellency Minister Pashtun stating that, "with the authority given by the decision of Economic Council of Afghan Cabinet and the approval of the Council of Minister (No. 10 87/03/06), The Ministry of Urban Development of I.R Of Afghanistan [...] has approved the ILD project to start in Afghanistan." The ILD expects to finalize the details of the project with the Government within the next two months.
